We got back today from a day at the Royal Norfolk show to find out that one of our pigaroos is limping. I spotted it straight away, the minute I sat down to say hello... She's eating and when I touched the foot and leg and thigh she didn't cry or make a sound whatsoever, but she wasn't able to clean herself in the usual way, when they just get up a bit on hind legs and clean their faces etc, she had to support herself with front legs. There are no cuts, no swelling that I could see, she still can move her foot and toes.
Everything was absolutely fine when we left in the morning.
My only guess it that it's a bruise or a sprain... Has anyone experienced anything similiar to this? Do I need to take her to the vet? She's eating and popcorned a bit earlier And was usually loud when she heard food it on its way... x thank you

It sounds like a sprain - not uncommon in lively youngsters. All it takes is a misjudged landing after popcorn or jump. The issue can sit anywhere from the toes to the spine.

If she is still popcorning, she is not in a huge amount of pain, so I would not worry too much, and there is definitely no need to see an out-of-hours vet. See how she is tomorrow morning. It can take a few days to weeks to heal fully, especially with a youngster who is more likely to aggravate any sprain during play at some point.

Ok, thank you @Wiebke. I will keep monitoring it. Something tells me she hit her leg against the front side to the litter tray, as sometimes she can't be bothered to jump and we saw few times she literally run/jumped over it but one legs just... Didn't make it  ... I'm hoping that is all it is:)
Thank you

There is more weight on a front leg than a back leg, so you see a piggy limping worse when they have twisted or strained their front leg than with their back leg. As long as you can't find any swelling and the piggy is still happy to move around, then you are alright to just observe for the time being.

:agr:With Wiebke. When I've noticed limps they are always more dramatic looking on the front leg than on a rear leg. I usually give it a day or so, and if it persists then I get the vet to check the piggy over. We've been lucky that we have had nothing more than a sprain given the way some of them jump off things and speed round corners doing zoomies.

Yes, she does a lot of running about , hopefully that's all it is. Fingers crossed. Is there anything I could give her to help healing at all ? X
