Finlay had funny toenails that curl. Friday, he wouldn'y let me cut the black curly one and had a lil scab on the toe. Tonight, he still won't let me touch it and he has the foot off the floor when standing still.

what do you think?

Sorry, I don't know enough to offer anything useful. I'm sure a piggy sage will be along soon. Best wishes. x

Sorry, I posted and it never arrived... :{

Could he have pulled his nail? Is it feeling a bit warmer than the rest of the foot (infection)?

It's not exactly in a place I would associate with bumble foot.

Poor Finlay must feel very sorry for himself and Ceri sends him her vibes!

somehow I made 2 threads.... mallethead

I managed to cut about 1mm of the curly nail. Finlay whimpered but has been OK since. We weighed him just in case and he's put on weight... :{ so no worries there. After that he went in the run and was a right cheeky so and so.

Back in the cage now, he's flat out on his fleece, snoozing.

The foot isn't hot to the touch.

Leave the foot/toe alone for a couple of days, it does not appear to be anything serious.
Some pigs do complain if you twist the nail/toe as you attempt to trim an overgrown nail.

thanks AP. Is the fact that the nail curls so much a problem in the long run? it looks rather uncomfortable.

there's another, clearer picture on the other thread.

Audrey i'm sure AP will have some ideas for you........

Mean time i'd keep eye on it you could always soak it tho :)

Sending healing vibes for Finlay xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

p.s. Finlay you need to let mummy cut that nail mate :{

All my piggies have one problem nail in the fact they all hate the same nail being cut! Hopefully finlay will get used to it getting cut! I do practicing with my three so they get used to sitting in a position and me touching their feet and nails.

The nail fell off this week but Finlay has no pain in the foot. In fact he was happily jumping and running around on Saturday when I noticed!
