Phoebe has a dark coloured 'scab' on one of her front feet. The vet says it's nothing to worry about - too much keratin being produced. It's unsightly but doesn't seem to bother her at all - except when I tried to move it away from her foot to see what it was. It's definitely not loose and she's not happy about it being messed with. Has anyone else experienced these and if so, what did you do? Thanks x

possibly? Haven't posted pictures before! Guess there must be somewhere telling me how to do it? x

Could also be from something sharp that found its way into the hay I guess. There is a thread that @twiams did about posting photos from photobucket but not sure where it is x

She's also being treated for a suspected URI and is on antibiotics (last 3 days - with a change in type today). We are syringe feeding her with mashed pellets, supplementing with extra Vit C (vet advice) and giving her cucumber, celery, romaine lettuce and the odd grape - she's right off carrot and peppers.

bumping this up - any suggestions anyone?

When I posted last night, your photo wasn't visible. I would say that it is a spur, now that I have seen your photo. It is quite a long one and ought to be removed as it could cause bleeding if it got caught and ripped off. Nearly all my lot have spurs and I trim them at the same time I do their nails.

Thanks for that. I was worried as her pad looked quite sore too x

One of my rainbow boys George had spurs just clip it off but make sure you don't cut too close to skin, I used to trim with nails and leave a bit of a flap so not to cut skin. If the foot is a little sore, gorgeous guineas do some creams you can use

Thanks folks! Got the vet to cut it off - I was too chicken!

Good news you got her sorted it will probably grow back though unfortunately so you may have to do it in future

Thanks Briony - I will have to get braver!
