Foot Spur?

Hey guys

Buttercup one of my sows has a very small foot spur on her foot (not sure if it's still growing as it is very small), I've looked online about them and it says you can clip them with nail clippers but I'm a little wary about this as i don't want to hurt her or make it bleed. She's the only one out of my six who seems to have it...

Can i leave it be as long as it doesn't bother her?

Do any of your piggies grow these and how do you treat them?

I think you can leave it as long as it is not so bad that she could easily catch it. It is easy to clip but if you are worried you could ask the vet to do it.
 
My pig hates having their nails cut. So I was dreading it when I had to cut off a spur. But it didn't bother him at all. It want bleed its just like very dry hard skin. I used pigs nail clippers. Its not as bad as doing their nails.
 
Thanks guys, I'll have a go at trimming it this weekend with my mum, buttercup is a real wriggler when it comes to nail clipping!

I was just worried it would hurt her but i feel reassured now...
 
Two of mine grow spurs that I clip regularly. I just use the claw trimmers that I have for them. The first time I went to the vets for them to show me how to do it properly to make sure I didn't hit live skin and it's easy once you get used to it. My vet also said you can use a nail file on it to keep it short and prevent needing to clip so often
