...my brave pig who was put to sleep yesterday as a result of neurological problems affecting his ability to empty his bladder. I tried everything but in the end wanted to relieve his suffering. I still have his 2 sons and his bereaved piggy soulmate to care for but Chive will be very much missed.

He was a beautiful light ginger pink-eyed rex, born on Valentine's Day 2014 so just a young piggy really. Very good natured and always brave.

Rest In peace, Chive

So sorry for your sad news. It is always hard saying goodbye to a much loved pet, sounds like you had done everything possible and now he is no longer in pain and joined lots of new friends over the rainbow bridge. Give your remaining piggies lots of cuddles x

Sleep well sweet boy. No more pain or hardship. You will be much missed by your mamma and buddy. X

Rest well little Chive, you will never be forgoton

I am so sorry for your loss, you did the right thing for him and helped him when he needed you the most. I am so sorry, massive hugs

RIP Chive

Thank you Helen. I'm glad I was able to look after Chive as he was a rescue pig and at least I was able to give him access to a guinea pig expert vet. I'm very wary with my other pigs now and dread them having a similar problem (I have Chive's 2 sons and his bereaved pal-not a relative). Time will tell..

I'm so sorry for your loss, TrishB (and sorry for your worry about his sons too). Best of luck to them, and please remember you gave so much to Chive. Chive must be very proud of being your piggy. Popcorn free Chive xox

Sorry to read this, Chive was obviously very much loved. You gave him the second chance in life that he needed and deserved, and at the end of his life you helped him on his journey. Huge hugs to you, it's a hard thing to do, but the best.

Thank you all for your really kind messages of support. I really miss Chive and I'm obsessively listening out for the others to start squeaking when weeing...I'll have to make a decision about getting a companion pig or not for bereaved piggy Mandril soon
