Hello,
Sadly my 16 month old piggy died last night due to an internal problem. We went to the vets before and they gave him some antibiotics but they wern't to hopeful. Unfortunaltly, i was, and my lovely little fighter Doggle let go. I am very upset but i must think of my other little piggy, Ian.

The two of them were brothers and now I'm worried about Ian being alone. I know guinea pigs can get depressed and lonely so i wanted to know if it would be good or bad to introduce another piggy his age and sex?

If it would be a good idea, how long should i wait and how to i do it (if they don't get on or something)

I'm am new to here and love the forum, thankyou :)

You'd be much better off looking for a baby boar to pair with your boy. That way dominance is already sorted and the new boy would not be a threat to Ian. Maybe you could find a rescue that would pair up Ian with a suitable little boy?

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :)

The sooner the better is always advised but at the same time you dont want to rush into it and get a guinea pig that he wont get on with. By looking for a rescue that can pair Ian up with a friend you know that the piggy he chooses will be the best match for him and he'll be a very happy piggy.

I dont know of rescues in your area, but I'm sure that others here will be able to point you in the right direction.

In the mean time, make sure that he keeps eating and drinking and give him as much attention as you can. Getting him a friend would be the best option to make Ian happy but be sure you're getting the best friend for him. :)
