The question in this week's quiz - Do all piggies drink water? - Is the one that most of you got wrong! LOL - The answer was NO.

Just thought I'd write a little on it -

Not all piggies need a separate water bottle as they get most of their water throughout their green veggies, cucumber in particular (almost 100% water).. Back in South America where guinea pigs were wild, they would often have a drink from a puddle or not bother at all.. as long as they ate a lot of greens (grass mainly), it would give them enough moisture to not need to drink..

Also a few years back, Tonic suddenly wouldn't drink anymore.. No real reason for it.. For about 8 months he was given lots of cucumber with his diet of other veggies. He was fine and was still peeing a lot. He was never down or ill,and so not drinking never bothered him..

After that for some reason, he just started drinking again from his bottle! Again no known cause.. These days he loves his water, and if I notice that he hasn't had much to drink, then it's out with more cucumber!

You are absolutely correct! If piggies get enough water from their veggies, they often won't ever use the bottle. Although, it is important to always have one available for them, even if they don't use it much.

I think I got that one right; as I know water can be obtained from vegetables! ;D
