I want to get Eddie and Elvis some more forage for Christmas so I had a look on haybox but there's so many options! I don't know if all the options are safe for piggies as haybox isn't just for guinea pigs either. Some reccomendations would be great :)

I get forage from haybox to bump up my order to get free delivery :) They like the dandelion, plantain and nettle, but weren't keen on the strawberry leaves and won't even touch the dandelion roots! They get a sprinkle of something in their hay every day.

I've also ordered from Piggy parcels for the first time I think it was Thursday! So exciting! Let me know which ones yours like! I chose my own individual leaf packets as didn't want to buy too many dried fruits that came as a pack. I spent so long choosing all the individual flavours think I chose about 7 bags and it cost me about 16.50 with free delivery, but they were out of stock of nettle so it's got me thinking I might make my own nettles! Exciting times! 😁

I'm pretty sure leaves and flowers can be fed everyday but what about other things like carrot, celery and parsnip and dandelion roots? Is it the same as if it wasn't dried?

I give mine a seagrass basket with a handful of mixed forage in each time I clean the cage, roughly every 5 - 6 days.
As the dried carrot & parsnip are the 2 they don’t like I don’t get them any more.
I buy mostly flowers & leaves plus their all time favourite, green oat grass

I’m not sure what’s on haybox but we got all this delivered yesterday:

I hope this gives you some ideas

Not all leaves and flowers can be fed every day, they all have different properties.
Dried veg and roots are treats

@luckyandsammy lucky piggies is all I can say! Mine are still munching their way through the box I got at the beginning of November. I now know they don't like calendula and beetroot and only Pedro will eat the dried apple. Basil goes crazy for coriander and they both love the oat grass, dried plantain leaves and dried dandelion. I'll know for next time to stick to oat grass and the green stuff! Fussy piggies!

Is it better to feed it all sparingly to avoid confusion?

Not really, you just have to research have often they can have things, the same as with veg.
Mine get a small handful of forage each for breakfast.
I like to mix the forage they can have every day in one big tub and just give them a handful out of that, it makes it easier.
I keep the things they can have less often in separate boxes. I actually made labels for them with how often they can have them, mainly so it’s easier for my boyfriend when he feeds them. I pick one of these to add to their daily mix or sometimes give the guinea pigs a few of them.

:agr:

mine get some forage every night but there are some things which aren’t given daily.

Oh so it's like veg but dried baisically. I don't know why I didn't think about it like that
What forage can be fed daily?

Sorry I forgot to update! The forage has come and it all look amazing :D It came a few days ago but I only just opened it because I forgot! :mal: :mal: :mal: They had some mulberry leaves which was a big hit, mint was also gobbled down and the rose and cornflower was sniffed suspiciously 🤣 I've left it there for them to come back to if they want. I'm so happy with all of it and it came with a note too :)

Forage looks lovely @Eddie & Elvis! I wasn’t feeding forage very often as I wasn’t sure how often it should be fed so I’ll be interested to see the replies about which can be fed more regularly! I’ve also just made an order on piggie parcels too!

Oh wow, I didn't think of forage being given so often, I'll have to have a look at it now as I like to mix things up for all of my pets 😊

Yeah hopefully I'll be able to feed it much more often that I have been especially now I have lots of new kinds :D

Mine get a pinch of forage every night, my boys go mad for dandelion, plantain, any dried herbs and green oat. They also love the apple pieces and they're so small I let them have up to one or two a day hand fed as an evening treat if we have them.

I have parsnip, carrot, mulberry leaves, hazelnut leaves, cornflower, rose, mint, marigold flowers and apple
(Sorry for such a late reply)

That’s fine!
The dried fruit and veg can be fed as a treat.
The hazel leaves can be fed 2-3 times a week.
Mulberry and cornflower can be fed every day, cornflower is actually very good for their bladders.
The rose can be fed every few days, marigold can be a part of an every day forage mix in small amounts or you can give a bigger portion (a few flowers) a couple of times a week (Id say about 2-3)
Mint is also a good treat and it can also be given in bigger amounts if you’re piggy is having trouble with its belly.
