Are there any foods that can be safely forged for piggies? I always used to collect hawthorn, cleavers, dandelion, cow parsley and plantain for the bunnies but I no longer have any bunnies. The pigs never really fancied any of those items (apart from dandelions) so just wondering if anyone forages for their pigs and what do they pick? Would need to be fairly low calcium as one of my girls has started to produce sludgy wees.

I pick a rucksack full of vrass for my two every dayor two. It would be great to give them more variety.

My piggies can't get enough of chickweed which is just as well as it grows in abundance in my front garden. As quickly as I rip it out it grows back again! They are also fond of a bit of dandelion too. I just so happen to have an old planter that has grown dandelion plants over the winter. Usually I just pop them in the compost heap but this year I think I will let them grow and even plant some seeds once the flower heads have gone over. After all it is free food!

My main foraging item are branches - all of my 4 go crazy for leafy branches, and will spend several days demolishing one until it is just a twig.
Our favorites are hazel, pear, apple (high calcium though, so maybe not for your piggies) and willow.
