With all the sad times lately in Piggie Paradise: the loss of Rosie, pixies cancer diagnosis and thenReggie's passing I've not yet introduced Keith aka 'little one'.

He was all on his Todd in a pet shop (I know I know). They told me he'd been there over a month with no interest. He had been returned as the owners kept him as a trio and he was the one that was bullied. As a result he has behaviour issues. I've tried him with reggie and then roger, he went on the defensive straight away. I even tried him with a girl (through bars) and he did the exact same thing!

He's a lovely little lad, loving getting some attention and fed properly. When he had his first taste of parsley there was no chewing, he inhaled it!

Hello... cutie... :love::drool:

He is beautiful. I am sure you will work wonders with him.

I'm working on it as we speak. Trying him again with Roger. Going well so far. Keith's doing zoomies around my living room :)

So would you keep him alone then or keep trying to pair him with another cavy? And are there cases when a cavy just cannot be paired?

I've never come across one that wouldn't be paired up. I've had a few awkward ones though. Like king David I tried with him for years and he wouldn't have it. But he's been living with Jeremy now for more than a year. It's a shame really because dave is nearly 9 and Jeremy is one. Poor Jeremy will be devastated.

Wow, king David has lived such a long life...cootos to you for being such an awesome caregiver (usually great care is what affords such a long life i've heard)!

Roger seems to be protecting reggies spots around my flat. Like one corner were his bed was and the other one were his hay tray was. Might be to soon for him.

Aww, well that is understandable! Cavies are such amazing creatures...everyday I’m learning from them! Hopefully my efforts this weekend to bond Caesar and Flynn will work out. Caesar was previously with a sow named Aspen which i thought was a boar and Flynn has been alone. So i plan to put Flynn with Caesar and move Aspen with Dott and move Bailey back with Ella! OMG this all seems like a lot i know but i have no other choice! I plan to take it slowly and be extremely observant! Any advice?

When I bond mine I usually start off with a bath. Then they both smell the same. It sounds horrible but baths terrify them and they'll cling to each other (the only exception being Reggie who loved baths). Then move them to the hallway to see how they go, I usually sit with them for a few hours. Lots of food and hay to distract them. If they look like there about to fight I usually clap loudly or squirt them with water! Most learn quickly that the clap/squirt means they have to be nice! have a towel handy to yank apart if they full on fight. I usually leave them in the hall all day checking in every 15 min or so. bare in mind whats normal dominance for them can look rough to us so don't give in to soon. Guinea pig politics eh!

I have a video of Jeremy and Daves bonding if you want to see it?

Thank you so much for the advice, i will apply it this weekend and hope for the best! I'll also be posting like crazy this weekend with updates/advice! I would love to see the video!

Ill upload them and post up, I have some from a failed attempt with Rosie and Emliy and the group of four that nearly didn't work but the squirty bottle did the trick. Gonna go clean them all out and that whilst they upload, back after!

I feel your pain! I'm going to have to have a rearrange myself soon as I have some solo pigs. Its always a very stressful for us slaves!

he's gorgeous :luv:

Congratulations on your new addition & thankyou for giving him a forever home.:D

Good luck with your bonding, hope he'll pair up nicely
xx

He's totally adorable - just want to cuddle him! :)

Welcome Keith, aren't you a handsome dude!

Little Keith is making progress with his behaviour problems. He's having daily sessions with Old Man Dave on how to behave like a polite piggy! No chattering from him tonight and popcorning :)
