An earlier thread follows the story behind how he got here, if you're interested look for the thread "Etiquette" by me.

The guinea pig boy arrived at my parents house yesterday in a taped up Hallmark box stuffed with hay. He is incredibly skittish, which I'm not suprised about and when I lifted him out from the box I realised that for a "one and a half year old" he was also incredibly small and light. Koda is one year old and this little boy is half of his body weight.

Then I realised that his testicles haven't dropped yet, so I think the original owner overestimated his age by about a year which is concerning considering his brother died months ago and was apparently the same age.

He is skinny and malnourished; not really suprising considering that he was a baby in a hutch outside over our frosty period... and missing a tooth, something the old owner neglected to tell me - perhaps she didn't notice.

I have nicknamed him "Foster" so I won't give him an affectionate name then become attached to him. He's adorable and while still skittish he's becoming braver in running around his cage for food.

Poor boy!

I hope that he will flourish with your good tlc and have the start to a happy life!

Bless the poor wee mite.

I'm sure he will come on in leaps and bounds in your care.

Glad he's safe and sound with you now Emma. He carries a strange an odd tale with him - for those interested, Emma has shown me a picture of this lad and he is not a pig that has come to this area either from Becklen or Sokel.

Things are sounding more and more suspisous - espcially this discepency in age. Keep us updated on his progress!

Yes that sounds so odd - the whole thing is a bit weird right from the off.

I'd love to see a pic of him if you have one Emma.

Bless him and pleased he has you!

When I get him back to Glasgow I'll take some pigtures of the little lad.

He's definatly not a peruvian, more abysinnian. My aunt wanted to call him Elvis because of how his fur is pushed, odd woman. I'm sure if I'd let her she'd have also run away with him last night.

I'm debating renaming him "Hay Turtle" because of the way he uses hay to get from one end of the cage to the other without being seen. Silly piggie.

My one big problem: How can anybody go round throwing mud at all rescues and having a poor little chap in a state like this? malletheadmalletheadmallethead

I'm thinking the same... Something is not quite right here.

I'm so glad little Foster-Hayturtle is finally somewhere he will recieve proper care!

EXACTLY Wiebke - I had 2 boys in beginning of November - both 8 months old - one weighed 450g and the other 500g - I will be doing a thread but a lot of people just don't realise exactly WHAT we have to deal with.

Emma - I am sure we are all gonna fall in love with this little one........ Well done you.

Helen.

This is a blanket excuse for keeping you all in suspense ;)

Due to the weather and unpredictable public transport (due to weather complications, not because they're being particularly sh... :) ) between Glasgow and my parents home, I chose to leave Foster in the care of my mum while I returned to Glasgow temporarily to work (huzzah. rolleyes ) and to collect the rest of the pig hoard for their holiday.

This means - don't hold your breath - that it'll be a short while before I can show Foster to you guys.

We have tried to get photographs of the little blighter, but he's so skittish the only ones in focus had my unwell and underslept mug in them - and I'm now showing myself unless I look half decent.

He is eating, drinking and doing the toilet -e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e-

... on a completely unrelated note, is anybody else confused as to why *SCOTLAND* seems to be coming to a grinding halt because of snow? Sheesh, we're SCOTTISH we're supposed to have enough whiskey in our bellies to breathe fire on snow and prod the furnace into life. Ach aye. I'm blaming the Russians for making vodka popular (and I don't care how valid a statement that is *huffs* ) you can blame global warming if you want.

Just wait until I start dunking him in the baths, then we'll see who is happy with me! BWAHAHAHAHA

Here! here!

The main thing is that Foster is in good care. Anything else can wait!
