I would love to start getting into helping people with rescue piggies - i would love to set up a rescue myself but i dont really have the money at the moment.

I was thinking about fostering of piggies - how do you get into this? i know a few people do it on here.

Thanks!

Good for you!

I started fostering a few for Vikki's rescue, when she needed the space, and took in an old boar and a few baby boys that then got homes via Vikki and went back over to her.

Do you know where your nearest rescue is? Might be worth a visit and a chat!

Good luck

Thanks Sophie

I live in West Kent, i think there are a few people round here that have rescues, so if anyone on here needs help, please drop me a message!

I willl also look up too Sophie, thank you!

I started fostering for the RSPCA simply by sending them a letter stating that.

I think the best advice would be to contact your local rescue centre but keep in mind that it takes time and a lot of money. Although the RSPCA supply dry food they do not supply fresh fruit and veg which, with 16 mouths to feed can be quite costly.

thanks i will look into it

if there are anyone near me that needs help though, please give me a shout!

It's a really kind gesture and a very worthwile thing to do.

I have 3 people who foster for me, sometimes it's only a week or two and sometimes it's for many months, all depends.

I provide the hay and dried food and usually give £5 per week towards veg etc for two piggies or if I've time take some food round to them.

It really helps when I am full here or someone needs extra attention.

I would get in touch with any local rescues but make sure you know from the start what is expected of you, both in terms of money and time. It's always better to get the detail sorted out early on as who does what. For instance I don't expect my fosterers to find homes for them , do home visits or make trips to the vets - I like to do all those things myself.

There is also the emotional side of things to consider like when they leave you..............! Or you could be like my friends who were just hopeless and kept the first two they fostered and then couldn't take anymore LOL !
