Hi!

Please inform your local welfare organisation ASAP; they will help you with the correct procedure.
There are legal aspects that you have to go through before you can claim ownership; even in those cases a piggy was clearly dumped and has not just escaped.

In the UK you best ring up your local RSPCA branch for advice.

Here is a good explanation of the correct procedure for the US: Found a Pet? | MultCoPets.org

that was in the summer. i’m just wondering in case it ever happens again

sorry but for privacy reasons i’d rather not say where

don’t worry though! everything is fine and he’s in good hands!

Please read my post above, which contains advice for the UK and the USA.

Unfortunately when you ask location specific questions, any general answers that are not at least narrowed down to a country won't necessarily cover everything. We have members and enquiries from all over the world.
Climate; general background/cultural attitudes; vet and rescue access; medical, care and food brand names can vary massively and play a crucial part in any personalised advice and support we can provide. Lacking that, you will just get the generalities.

Good on you for taking him in and giving him a home x Perhaps you could look at finding him a companion x

no he had boar friends he didn’t like
