I just discovered a little lump below Muffin's chin. I've never noticed it before, I can't say that it wasn't there for sure. I was just giving her a little chin scratch and found it. What do you think that might be? Of course I'm instantly thinking tumour :( Her behaviour is totally normal, appetite, energy etc..

ok I did a little online search and see that it might be a cyst. I sure hope it isn't an abcess as the earliest I can get her into the vet is Thursday evening. I just felt it again to be sure of the size so I can be able to tell if it grows. It's actually fairly big :( I'm so so so worried. Muffin is only 10weeks old, we've grown to love her so incredibly much. her sister would be devastated if something were to go wrong :( Not even counting my daughter, oh boy.

It hasn't grown, so I'm feeling a lot better about it. Apparently my daughter felt the lump days ago but didn't mention it because well, she's just a kid and didn't think it was abnormal. She thought it was the guinea pig's adam's apple. LOL! Of course we've talked about how lumps and bumps are not a normal thing and if she ever feels any again to please let me know. :)

Lumps and bumps could be a number of things but only a vet can give a proper diagnosis.

Cancerous tumours are quite rare in guinea pigs especially ones so young.

Good luck at the vets :)

It was an abcess. Poor thing, the vet shaved her neck and pulled the puss out with a needle. Muffin SCREAMED, it was awful :( But between hot packs and antibiotics, it's nearly gone. You can barely even feel it now. She's such a little doll. Even with all that man handling she never once tried to bite and even gives me little licks on my arm after her treatments are done.

I've removed all shavings and put them on towels for now. I didn't want dirty shavings to cause any further infection once the abcess had been opened. I'm not going back to shavings, but I'll have to stick to towels until I sort out some fleece.

Awww, poor little girl. Lots of healing vibes to her x
