Junior Guinea Pig
So frustrating. We went to a Pets at Home for supplies and discovered that one of the local animal sanctuaries puts their small animals there for rehoming.
We found the most gorgeous 3 year old (fairly laid back) male - just what we want to try for her. They would also take him back if it didn't work out. The only catch is that he isn't neutered but we can get that done. It does mean that he and Valentina would have to have 6 weeks getting to know each other from a distance - possibly not a bad thing.
Then as they were giving him a quick once over before we took him, they discovered that he had the beginnings of ringworm! They are treating him, but it now means that we will have a lonely piggy for even longer.
I also wonder how he managed to get ringworm when he has no direct contact with any other animals. I am guessing that it came in on some other animals and it was accidentally transmitted by the staff.
Still keeping an eye on the other nearby rescue centres just in case - the problem is that we want this one now.
