Just seen on another forum a male guinea pig's been found in the Walton Park area of Preston, Lancs. Please pm me for details if you know of owner.

Probably been dumped, it happens all the time...in my experience :-\

The lady who has him says he's really friendly and healthy, and seems a well loved and cared for pet. Hope so rather than someone dumping him in the cold weather >:(

If it were me...and it isn't....Would just advertise in local vets and ask the local rag to run a story. Obviously not giving away gender or any distinguishing features, asking the owners to verify these. Sometimes it isn't worth advertising found animals, if the owners truly miss them they will actively look for them and post in paper for them or vets etc. So I'd ring around and see if he has been reported missing in vet surgeries. Check lost adverts etc.

One of my boars was found this way, lovely guinea pig, found in street handed into vets, came here....still here. No one missed him :(

Are local paper will let you have an advert for free if its for a found animal /item. Pity guinea pigs aren't micro chiped!

when I use have a bun years ago he got out time after time despite everything we tried, luckly my neighbours knew it was our thumper ( yes very original I know) but me and the kids when younger would be worried sick, he eventually got further down the street and they did'nt know him but i saw a sign in the window saying he had been found, when I went in they had him indoors and very happy being totally spoilt so took the decision to let them keep him (their kids adored him) they kept him inside as he would escape otherwise and he was fine and lived a long happy life, I was just happy for updates on him and think i took a very unselfish decision to let him go knowing the little sod could'nt get out and get killed, I think if the pig is well looked after and tame he has more likely escaped then been dumped, but i dont like to automatically think the worst, hope he finds his owners, the paper ad is a great idea,

I had a rabbit like that - bet he could have escaped Alcatraz! caught him walking along a 4ft fence once. He could climb any vertical mesh surface like a ladder. He was ALWAYS out all the locals knew him. When I came nose to nose with a fox in the drive way things had to change. So he had a 5ft x2ft hutch with a 5ftx 4ft run attatched which he could access in the day - but I saw him from the house climb the inside of the run (3ft high) and whilst balancing on the verticle mesh lift the lid which was weighted by 3 bricks & hinged at one end. That was the last I saw of him. Ungreatful little sod! I can only hope that someone did find him. I thought I found remains of him behind the shed but it was a deteriorating piece of kitchen roll!

The man who found him is advertising locally and the piggy was handed to the RSPCA who have passed it on to the lady who takes in rescues from them. So I think everything is being done to locate the owner. Otherwise I'm sure he'll be found a good home.

It's awful to think that someone could have dumped him in the middle of winter, but I guess it happens a lot - suppose they can't be bothered to look after them in winter, know it happens a lot with rabbits >:(
