came down this morning and as usual looked in to babies cage and on the pak choi i gave him last night was a pool of what looks like red liquid :(

of course i panicked, you all know how i love my baby wit his tilted head. i opened up his house and he was just sitting there, so i grabbed him out, he didn't complain just made his happy noise.

i checked him over and sat him on my lap. when i picked him up no sign of blood on my lap, paws, mouth and nose all look OK.

put him on the floor and he just started running round and having a play....a gud one at that :o baby don't run that fast with being blind, but he's having a great time. eating cucumber and eating dry food.

i don't know what to think ?

I'm of to work now till 6. will worry about him but he seems fine in every way.

any body got any ideas?

he obviously didn't like pak choi ;D was gonna keep the sample of what ever it is and take him vets tomorrow.

if he had kidney stones would he be running around and acting normal

I have heard of piggies sometimes passing a rusty coloured urine that has turned out to be nothing but that - just dark coloured pee!

If he was one of mine I would have him on white towels so you can monitor if he passes any more before he goes to the vets. They will be able to dip his urine to check for blood at the vets so get him there tomorrow if you can.

yep when i put the wee in to the sample jar it did look rusty, had me confused all day.

never thought of puting down white towels... stupid me 98)

he's out now and eating great and running around.

thanxs for advice...brill

Sometimes something in the diet can cause a one off redish urine.,beetroot and even too much carrot can cause this.If a renal stone was causing heamaturia Baby would be crying when he urinates because stones are very painful.Heamuaturia can also be caused by a severe uti which would also cause painful urination. thanks for advice, put white towels in cage and no sign of red blood, there was a stain but more likely to be wee and poo mixing together ;D

he is has healthy has can be and is not squeaking in pain at all, not even when held and is eating for England ;D i think he is just after attention, he is one spoilt pig and knows it, i know i shouldn't have favourites but i do sneak him cucumber and treats when the others aren't looking and he is always waiting ;D

bad i know but how could i not love that little fella to bits, he looks at u with his blind eyes ;) and all u can see is his teeth cause of his cleft lip and of course with his tilted head he just looks so cute :smitten:

so you have to forgive me for spoiling him >:D

I'm wondering if he maybe pulled himself, he does fall of his house and the night before i found the so called blood he had done a bit of a roll over on the floor when him and buddy were winding each other up. being tilted he does get knocked of balance.

he is running about normal and as you say stones etc would cause him pain and he is showing no signs of that. i am watching him like a hawk 88). i plan to take a couple of my other piggies to vet for check ups this week ( it is my new vet) and I'm going to take baby so they can give him a once over and get use to him and his problems ;D but believe me any sign of illness he will be at the vets.

he did have a carrot that night....... and all the spoiling in the world hasn't changed his bad attitude, when baby is really ill he becomes loveable and he certainly isn't being lovable........ just his normal self

I spent alot of money early last year on tests at the vets because of red wee - it turned out to b red dye in the newspaper they were weeing on. Boy did I feel silly!
I know with rabbits in particular their wee can range from clear to orangy red. According to my old vet rabbits eating straw wil make their wee an orange / red colour. But not sure with Guineas...
