I got a baby guinea pig - Petal from a friend last Friday and I am also looking after Petal's sister, her Mum, my friend's other guinea pig and her baby whist my friend is on holiday. :) However, Petal and her sister have a mite infection. My friend's Mum gave me some tea tree oil (diluted) and I have been putting it on Petal and her sister's bald patches, morning and evening for the last three days. I have to admit that their ears and Petal's top of head is looking quite better. I was just wondering if it is ok to keep on using this. If their bald patched don't clear up soon, I will have to take the babies to the vet, they are only 4 weeks old. However, do you think it is ok to be using diluted tea tree oil? Also, are they too young to be bathed? Cos I was thinking this might help get rid of the mites?

personally I would stay away from Tea tree, cant remember why but with it being an essential oil and them being so small it may not be the best thing to be using.

How much do they weigh?

I would find out what age / weight xeno 50 is for. If it's okay for them and you want something cheaper use the beapher hamster one from pets at home.

Xeno 50 is for mini pigs BUT I am not sure what age it can be used from - or weight. You need to find that out first.
