we think Franco might not be able to see.

We have noticed over the last week that when you pop food in front of him he doesn't see it and walks around sniffing for it and sometimes walks right over it, have seen him walk into things and he has also fallen off the ramp a few times (Adam is going to add sides) it's not very high so no injuries.
Is he jut a funny pig or do you think he might have some sight problems?
He has pink/red eyes.

They are off for a vet check tomorrow, so will ask him what he thinks but thought I would run it by you first!

Pink eyes are a normal and healthy eye colour in guinea pigs, but it may be good to have Franco vet checked. Blindness can happen in all breeds. The good news is that it usually doesn't impact on their quality of life.

Normally blind and blind/deaf guinea pigs compensate with their other senses, which are stronger than our human ones - smell, touch (whiskers as well as paws) and hearing. They follow scent spoors and find their way around the cage with the help of scent marks.

Thankyou Wiebke, I will make sure to tell the vet and see what he comes up with. Would just be better to know either way! We'll love him whatever .

The vet seems to think in 1 eye especially that Franco's pupil is overly dilated. There is no way to be sure however it is likely he is blind/partially sighted.

Otherwise healthy pigs both weighing around 1kg.

I'm glad that he's had a once over from the vet, he should get on fine with his limited sight.
