How can I get him to drink from it? Considering I brought two I don't want to put the leaky noisy horrible one back in but I need him to drink :/

Ideas welcome!

Well I put his veggies in water so he's not thirsty ATM, I have to give antibiotics at half ten, then wait an hour apparently to give him some probiotic with a syringe, that the vet said was fine in his water all day, never mind, I'll do what needs be done.
If by half ten he's not had a drink I'll take the new one out and leave the old one in.
He wouldn't take a new bottle before when we first got him, he's such a fussy lil man, most veg and stuff I have to halve or quarter before he'll eat it haha.....
just can't deal with leaky noisy bottles when I have Uni and end up awake most the night. But if I have to it's tough. Just means I wasted £14 and won't get much sleep. Poop.
Tomorrow I'll take the old one out again and see if having the other one in for a few hours he'll drink it.
Prob too much for him today, injection, antibiotics, vet, loads of fussing from everyone we saw in the vets and then a dreaded new bottle!

Whenever I replace my water bottles it takes my pigs a bit to get used to them. Maybe if you give it a day or to he will learn to drink from it.

@PiggieOwner Haha, more than likely, I pretty much run on no sleep, If I sleep more than 6 hours I'm a zombie the next day - odd one me!
He's just been dreaming ^^ now he's munching on his hay and realised there's none left to pull on his head, so I'll sort that now!
Hopefully get a lay in tomorrow :tu:

@piggyfan did you leave the old bottle in?

Are you filling the old bottle right to the top in order to create a vacuum?

If necessary put the old bottle back for the time being until Frank is better in himself and put cotton wool in your ears... Or otherwise syringe him as much water as he will take in one go 2-3 times a day. Always syringe half a 1ml syringe filling in one go; that is about a mouthful, so nothing is going down the wrong way.

No. I replaced both bottles and after a few days they started using them. I don't think they like the smell of new things. You could always try bringing it to his mouth to show him it is safe.

@Wiebke I always fill it right up, it the ball in the bottom and the fact it leaks. I've replaced clean newspaper 3 times today cos it leaked on it and I have a drip pad ha. Thank you, will do that.

@piggyfan I did that, he ran paha! Try again tomorrow or maybe more likely when he's better! :)

Aww poor baby. Hopefully he will get used to it in time. Piggies do seem nervous of new things.

@piggyfan when I first put it in it was quite amusing seeing him run away from it getting closer and closer then I was like, okay it's been an hour.... Hopefully he will I may leave it in there with old bottle so he's used to seeing it :)

We are still searching for the ideal bottle... Sippy are generally an improvement (I use themself), but it can take time to switch piggies over and some Sippy bottles never stop leaking. I use little drip dishes underneath.

I also have to warn you that the noise level is more to do with a piggy's individual drinking style. Some piggies seem to like to gnaw the ball or push it with their teeth. A very noisy drinker won't be much quieter on a Sippy bottle. :(

I recently bought Katie & Nala a new glass bottle to replace their plastic one as it kept sliding all over the place. They refused it i initially so I left the old one next to it & had to show them that water came out of it. I took the old one out when I was home until they we're completely happy and drinking from the new one & have now fully changed over. Piggies are funny creatures who don't like change.

So far this morning it's the first bottle he goes to, he goes for it and then its like nope back to old bottle! Improvement I guess!

@Harry&lloyd sounds a plan! Thanks for sharing your experience! :)

@Wiebke He tends to bite and play with the ball and stick his tongue in there, as much noise as there is to be made he'll make it! haha -.- ... We'll see! Water bottles won't be next to my head when my loft liners and ramp covers arrive, might make it a bit easier on me, I just hope they're here some point this week! ha :)

After all this time, tonight Frank finally had a good couple of sips from said 'sippy bottle' in our hands, so fingers crossed, he'll drink it in the cage now.... And it is still noisy.... Hooray!

Tried to upload a video but never works for some reason!
