Can guinea pigs have frash spinach? I was at the market today for the first time there had frash spinach and the bagged stuff i normally get the big stuff anyways

but can there have frash spinach? It just looked like sping greens really

My boys love spinach leaves!

From what I've read you're not supposed to give them a lot though, so I just buy it when it's on offer.

Maybe not give it to babies either.

yeah there only get it once a week and i jsut share a samll bag betwenn 11 of them

so can there have frash spaich?

My two oldest boys love spinach, they hear the bag rustling and practically jump out of their cages at me!

Haven't started giving it to Gizmo yet, I read somewhere that cabbage and carrot is the best thing for babies!

both tiger and george love spinach they have only had it a couple of times though as not good too often. We eat in our house , I wouldn't buy it specially as no way you'd get through a bag on two piggies as they should only have a handful now and then!

Mine get a handful of spinach twice a day if i get it in... they absolutely love it and it hasnt done them any harm so far but i do space it out and i dont treat it like the other veg which they get willy nilly...

My first guinea pigs lived on brocolli, carrots and apples, hay, grass and pellets and lived till over 6 so my lot are very spoilt with the food they get !

mine love spinach too and like Jane28's piggies, mine are very spoilt too, they get spinach, bok choy (which they LOVE), celery, carrots, mint leaves, parsley, apple, cabbage leaves, corn, hay, grass, pellets, and for treats occassionally they get grapes etc.

Maybe not give it to babies either.

Babies are the safest age for spinach as they can have the higher calcium veg to help them grow. Spinach is high in calcium and oxalates, which - if given too much - can combine to lead to the formation of bladder stones as the excess sits and moves through the bladder.
