The boys were having grass time yesterday afternoon, they're runs were all together but physically separate. Anyway, all was great for about half hour when Spike went absolutely mental for no reason. He started off running out of his cardboard box and then straight back in - I thought at first he was being playful but then he just sat in the box looking out. Then suddenly he started darting round his run and was frantically trying to get out. He was desparately jumping up the sides and seemed really scared of something. The other two just carried on with what they were doing.

Seeing that he was in distress, I quickly put his hutch back together (I was half way through cleaning it) so he could go back in. Allan managed to get hold of him and calm him down a bit, but he was clearly properly scared of something. We put him back in his hutch and he just hid in bed for the rest of the day - he didn't even come out for his teatime veggies which is very unusual for Spike. I managed to get him out last night to check him over and he didn't seem hurt other than a sore nose where he kept running into the sides of the run, but he was still spooked when I put them to bed late last night.

Spike has always been a bit timid, but I've never seen him anything like this before - he was proper scared bless him, but I've got no idea what spooked him. He's used to being on the grass, and nothing was happening around us which could have scared him.

He's a lot better this morning and ate all his veg overnight, so I know he's ok.

Have any of you had this happen before?

maybe he could hear some birds or something? Mine get freaked out when they can hear birds on next doors roof!

maybe a shadow or something, animals can become scared of stupid things Mac is terrified of my ironing board!he freaks when i put it up or take it down!

They can get scared of certain insects, I find - big "bumblebee" buzzing around and mine hide under the hay!

Also, if you have ants, they can irritate a guinea's paws/belly/nether regions, so he might have been bitten. It seems to provoke a similar reaction.
