Freaking Out...... When I Found This In Their Cage This Morning.....

So, it was a bit of a rush last night, as we had the kids school play.. I made sure the piggies were cleaned out and fed, chucked plenty of hay in their tray as usual.... Went to clean them out this morning and found this ..... Feel sick....

IT WAS FURRY AND FLAT.... WENT TO PETS AT HOME VETS ( as very close ) AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A DEAD DEHYDRATED MOUSE...... Poor mouse..... just worried in case the piggies have nibbled any of it cos they had dragged it over to their bedroom area

I wouldn't worry to much, I've found a little field mouse in my hay too. Very unsettling but suppose it can't be uncommon as hay comes from a field and that's where the little field mice live too.

Just be thankful that you found it in their hay- and not in the middle of a loaf of bread, like someone in the papers did!

Did you buy the hay from p@h ? Seen keepers repoting this type of thing to p@h a few times over the years , they ususly get the suplier to re emburse

I once found a mangled up rat in a bale of hay. I must admit, I am now always wary!

The worst thing I have ever found in a bale of hay was a large beetle- dead. I think it was John Lennon!

I remember someone finding a live snake (it was a very young snake) in the straw they were spreading in their horse's stable!

Oh yuck! I once found a huge dried up grasshopper in my hay and thought that was gross! But the mouse is much worse!
