Adult Guinea Pig
Some of you may know that I "rescued" a little Gerbil called Freddie.
He was very shy when I got him, having been used to being stuck inside a small plastic thing that they liked to call a cage. You couldn't see into it very well and I'm sure Freddie couldn't see out of it. He never got handled and his owner was afraid of him.
I don't know why....He's harmless.
So after...Hm...2 months? I think it's been now.
He's become a very confident and social little chap. He comes out to say hello if he hears you walk into the room.
He'll come and sit by the door in hopes of getting a treat
He likes to play games, too! If you go to stroke him, he dodges out of the way but always comes back again and if you stop chasing him, he comes dashing back up to the door rolleyes clearly he loves the attention.
But now he's just...Lovely, really. He'll come out and sit on top of the cage if I open the top door for him. And when I open the side door, he'll come out and sit on my lap...But only if he thinks there's a treat in it for him!
He won't let you grab him and I've learned to respect this now. If he wants to come out, he will but it has to be on his terms, he seems to get very upset if you try to grab him. I did find out that my friend, his previous owner used to pick him up by his tail
so I can understand Freddies feelings...
Freddies first adventure on top of the cage! Once he learned he was allowed to do it, that was it! he was off!
And this was the first time I managed to get him to come out onto my lap!
I am so in love with him! He may be a different animal but he's as much my baby as my little piggies are! x)
I love my little Freddie-boy! x)
Anyways. I thought you'd like an update!
