Freddie (and Nelson) went to see Simon today and although it wasn't a successful visit in the sense that we were unable to determine any firm diagnosis, I was very impressed with Simon and left feeling so reassured!

Simon gave Freddie a very thorough examination (far more than any other vet I've seen) and had a very in depth discussion with and my Dad about Freddie's history and wellbeing in general. He said, in all, Freddie was a very healthy piggy with a good coat and perfect teeth, but agreed that he was underweight.

What he found unusual was that Freddie's weightloss was very gradual. He has given us some medicine for worming/parasites (can't remember the name) just in case there is anything causes the weightloss internally. He had also said that if we see no improvement after a week of using this medicine, then we can do an x ray and, if absolutely necessary, a blood test.

I was really impressed with Simon because he asked me a lot about Freddie and covered absolutely everything that could be wrong and went through all our options. I left feeling that all my concerns had been addressed and that no questions had been left unanswered. I'd certainly recommend him! Also, I was very pleased with the price - only £30 - and we got a LOT of value for our money. X rays are also not as dear as I thought they would be.

Obviously, I'm still concerned about poor Freddie, but I feel better knowing that everything that could possibly be done for him is being done!

Simon is lovely! So knowledgeable and he really takes time to explain everything and listen to what you have to say. I feel I am so lucky to have him as my vet.

Is it Panacur that you are using for worming/parasites?

How much weight has Freddie lost? Does he live with another piggie?

Yes when my Daisy was seen by Kim & Simon I was very impressed with both of their "bedside" manners :)

Daisy's subsequent op & aftercare was excellent, you can't see her scar at all now & I was so happy to talk to a vet that really cares about their patients & owners! They are wonderful, I just wish all vets were the same everywhere rolleyes

I have to say Ive found myself a lovely vet. Sadly, however, the consultation fee is nearly £50 so I have no hope of a visit ever costing £30. lol

Yes, that's the one!

He has lost about 200g over an eight month period. He is currently 950g and noticeably underweight, so we're very concerned. The rate at which he is losing weight has slowed down, but he's so bony :(

This is why Simon was a little baffled - he has no other symptoms other than a very gradual weight loss!
