Freecycle Guinea Pigs

I have been promoting the Animal Rehoming group I own on the Freecycle groups around the UK. There are a lot of guinea pigs being offered free at the moment. We invite the owners to advertise the animals on our site as another option for advertising their re-homing as it's only for animals and pet accessories. To see so many guinea pigs and other animals being given away on freecycle sites is very sad as they were created to save landfill.

If you have a freecycle group near you you might want to take a look. Some don't aloow pet postings but many still do.

You're right but at least its giving them a chance of finding a better home and I would imagine that traders are less likely to trawl through freecycle pages than using the freead websites.

I got them to stop it on our local freecycle.

why is it bad to stop freecycle.
its one: free so the person is rehoming not selling like if they were on ebay or freeads
its two: veiwed by lots of people and not binding so you can do visits befor egiving the piggies away.

my mum nearly rescued a guinea on freecycle but the lady had a friend who had space in her piggie room who took him on instead.

1. There is no guarantee of the condition they would be in so someone thinking "Ooh, free guinea pigs!" may take them on and aren't willing to pay the vet fees to get them right again. Three pigs I took on from freecycle were the worst state I've ever seen a pig in.

2. Knock them on the head and voila! Free food for reptiles or birds of prey.

3. Unfortunately most people who list their pets on freecycle just want rid of them as soon as possible and will not home check.
