mutton chops

I read elsewhere that dried grass should not be fed instead of Hay....I'm confused...there both dried grass...whats the difference? ? ?

i think some dried grass such as readi grass and other simliar brands contain a lot of calcium which is why you should limit the amount they have as too much is bad for them. meadow hay/timothy hay is best for feeding with with the odd handful of dried grass a few times a week :)

Yes the really green stuff like readigrass is freeze dried which although keeps it tasting extra yummy the calcuim content is really high so should only be feed as a treat.

Thank you both ;).
I'm so glad I found this out from you before something happened. I've been feeding mine on Graze-On, and it's quite green, so I'm going to get some hay as soon as I can.
Does anybody know of any good quality hay without much dust?

try your local pet shop first see what kind of hay they have, or any farm shops as they are generally cheaper than pet shops.. theres pets@home ive been using their hay and its been ok so far, but i have had it in the past where it was very horrible looking so check through the wrapper first before buying!

www.pamperedpiggies.co.uk do a lovely mountain hay i buy the 1kg sack and filling up hay balls and odd handfulls daily it lasts my 6 piggies about 2-3 weeks so deffo worth the money and its a nice coour and smells lovely!

Thank you ;)
They are on vetbed, so they have their hay in a rack. Timothy hay be the best thing nutritionally wouldn't it ? ?
I used to get them the timothy or herbage from p@h, but I found alot of it was dust and it got quite expensive with them eating more than a packet every 2 weeks!

After spending my wheekend searching in all the shops, Ive come back right where I started and ordered some american timothy from dust free hay! ::)

Ive worked out its £3 more expensive than the herbage, but has longer peices, is totally dust free and generally better quality.
Cant wait till it comes, it sounds fab! :D
How long does it normally take to get to you lavenderjade?

I would think so clc.... sounds right....
