I sadly lost one of my boys 2 days ago. My remaining boy is doing good and adjusting well. I'm hoping to get a new friend for him sometime this week, but the closest rescue is 2 hours by train and I don't drive.

I've also checked SPCA but they only have already bonded pairs. As much as I would rather adopt, I think I may have to buy a new piggy, unless anyone has other suggestions.

I suppose my question is would I be better off getting a baby boar or an adult. My remaining boy was the more submissive pig and he's roughly around 3 years old.

So sorry for your loss.
It’s good that you are thinking of your boy’s wellbeing while you are still grieving.

When I was left with a lone boar I decided to go down the route of having him neutered and then getting him a wife.
He ended up with 2 wives and was a very happy boy for the rest of his life

Let us know how you get on.

Please feel free to post a tribute to your other piggy on the Rainbow Bridge thread

I am really sorry for you loss. We always advocate rescue but appreciate that not all people have access to rescues easily. Hope whichever route you go down you can find the perfect friend for your piggy. Sometimes getting a baby boar if your boar is older is a good option as babies normally go to the bottom of the piggy hierarchy
