First of all, I have been reading on here a lot about the weight of piggies and we've been weighing ours since the first week we got them, but the weight they were when we got them seems very low for the age we were told. Poppy was 350g and Pippin was 425g when we first got them, yet we were told that they were both 12 weeks old? Does this seem right? They not both average about 850g give or take 20. Do these weights/ages sound off?

Also a cute pic of pippin doing her frog impression!

And the girls having a cuddle

Nothing like "chooken legs"! x)

The starter weight is rather low; that weight should be reached at least a month earlier with good care. However, the good news is that healthy adult guinea pigs can weigh anything between 800g and about 1400g; that is quite a range! Your boys will reach full adulthood at about 15 months old and can make up lost ground until they are about 2 years old.

Please just keep them on a good balanced hay based diet and don't overfeed; they will eventually get as close to their ideal individual body weight anyway. Guinea pigs have such individual variance that growing charts are usually pretty useless, apart from usually sending unsuspecting newbies into a state of panic!

Can't help with the weights sorry. But gorgeous pigtures of your piggles x)

Your girls are so cute :) I wouldn't worry too much about the weights as long as they're gaining or maintaining. :)

Gosh I can't remember how much mine weighed when they were little but I weigh them every week now during a health check up. Just wanted to say I'm loving the piggy legs!

Just another one who has to comment on the adorable pigtures - that second photo, so cute - bless them!
