When I moved house, Junior and Bernadette did great. They have both settled really well. But Treacle is just not right. Since yesterday she hasn't been moving as much, and seems to be standing in one spot a lot. When we bring her in for cuddles she is a bit more cheerful but not great. She is eating and drinking well, and responds to my voice, but not with the same gusto she had before. Our new neighbours have a large dog that barks a lot, and are also re-decorating. Is she just scared? Or could it be something deeper? Nothing else has changed at all - same hutches, same diet, same bedding. All is exactly the same except the overall environment. None of my other piggies are bothered - Bernadette was scared that first day but she settled anf Junior is perfect. How can I comfort her?
By the way, we moved them on Sunday so it's been a week. 5 days she was fine and now she's not :(

Update: I have a very unhappy Treacle :-( The vet thinks she may have problems with her back teeth, he couldn't see them very well as there was a lot of food gunk at the back of her throat. she's had a Baytril and a Metacam injection and I've to go back in the morning. x

Just wanted to say i had an experience where my vet told me something was dental even though it wasn't it was to do with the fact i'd been given baytril with out an anti biotic and just baytril in general puts them of there food, but i nearly paid £60 for un-necessary treatment.

The gunk is just food thats left back there, all piggies will have it at the back of there mouth which is why it is so hard for them to see the teeth, if she's still eating you may want to get a second opinion, it may be dental but it may be something else.

Is there any other signs it's dental ?
Hay is apparently really hard for piggies with teeth issues to eat.

She is very lethargic, and has tried to eat some hay I think. I don't know whether the stress has upset her and she just is hiding in the tunnel and doesn't want to come out. She hasn't made any effort to eat or drink that I've seen since she came home from the vets today. i'm really worried.
Part of me thinkis it could be dental, or that it could be constipation as she doesn't seem to have passed anything since she came home from the vets either.
Please, someone help me. x

oh god, I'm so sorry love.

Could you try her with some grated carrot?

Could you get in touch with Debbie from Furry friends for advice?

Thank you, I definitely plan to do this as soon as possible. Please pass this on to anyone who might be able to help me. x

Good news - she's started pooping - not much but a little bit, and it's a bit sticky but it's something! Keeping her guts moving. She is loving syringe feeds of water. Don't know how much she's swallowing but she is desperate to take them. Fingers crossed, just waiting for the. Excel pellets to soften before food is attempted

Well she likes eating cucumber, she has been chowing down something rotten but is still not keen on nugget mush. Waiting on a call back from Debbie to maybe get some advice on syringe feeding.
Please send some healing wheeks my way x

Treacle took some syringe food and a bit of cucumber last night but is still not making any efforts to eat or drink on her own. Her poo is very dark and sticky, which leads me to think it could be a tummy problem. She's not moving much, but has taken a couple of mls of water this morning. She'll be returning to the vets very soon. x

Update on Treacle. Good news, she's still alive :) She is making little attempts to eat for herself, but not with the same enthusiasm as normal of course. The vet said it was very unlikely to be her teeth, and gave her another round of injections yesterday. She's taking little nibbles of everything, which does make me happy. Still supplementing her, however she's now turning down the water syringe. hopefully that's because she's getting enough for herself.

I'm sitting with a real racket in the living room - she has now officially re-mastered the water bottle. She's going at it really well, and has even tried to eat pellet food! She can't do it yet, mind, but she's improving.

Apologies for the delay - I am officially back online (other than just through my phone!) and Treacle is back to perfect health. She is drinking a lot, but has gained all the weight back that she had lost, and is now a lovely 840g - in comparison to the 780g that the vet weighed her in at.
