Hi all,

I got my pigs 2 days ago and am just wondering what veggies you all feed yours and how often you give them?
Mine have wolfed down some broccoli so far but I’m not 100% what they can have

Thanks in advance

Great information can be found on tool bar for everything to do with your piggies especially if you are new to piggy keeping.
Vegetables have different calcium , iron ratios so best to look up what’s best for daily feeding and what can also be fed less often!
If they are new to Vegs introduce each veg slowly over a few days so that you don’t upset the tums!
Hay is the most important food for them and should make up 80% of daily food allowance.
After all that! Welcome to the Forum!
Post photos soon!
Always someone here to help and answer any questions you may come across. Janice, Mum to 14 piggies and 1 house Bunny. X

Hello welcome to the forum! :) have a flick through the guides given above

We feed ours this roughly

Morning:
Cucumber -1.5 cm x 2cm chunks (twice)
Celery - 1 stick between 3 chopped up small
1/6th of Red/Green/Yellow Bell Pepper (de-seeded)

Evening:
Cucumber 1.5 cm x 2cm chunks (twice)
Two Little Gem Lettuce leaves or 10 sprigs Coriander. Twice a week we will swap in cabbage or parsley

We also add in to the above diet carrot, sweet potato, celery leaves and a few other things occasionally

But by no means am I any expert on food here, some folks on the forum are really clued up... so pick up advise where you can.

Is that 10 sprigs of coriander per pig or between the 3?

I tend to center my veggies around the benefits they provide my pigs ie

Carrot! The hard flesh of the carrot provides them with a medium to keep there incisors exercised and helps prevent overgrowing!
I feed carrots every day, around 2 inches of an average sized carrot

Peppers (bell ) for there hi vit C content =80 mg/100 grams
Around 1/3rd of a pepper daily!

Parsley = 130 /100gm, though fed sparingly as to much can cause runny poos!
Brockley =90 mg /100 grams again fed sparingly as it can cause tummy problems!
A small sprig each evey 3 to 4 days!

Cucumber is hi in water and is great to help keep there bladders flushed!
Around 2 inches every day!

I also feed other veg but not as frequently and in strict moderation!

Helpings ! The total of all the veg l feed per pig per day is around 1/2 a tea cup in volume!

I also feed dried pellet's sparingly , l like to keep my pigs apertite focus on the unlimited Alfalfa King Timothy hay! This to my mind is a very important food as it wears down the molars and is great for a healthy digestive system

Alfalfa King Timothy Hay for Small Animals 4.5kg bale | Feedem

Mine get pellets for breakfast and veg for dinner and hay in between! It all depends which suits you better. There is no 'right' way or 'wrong' way as long as they have some veg every day. Occasionally for a treat mine will get an apple core (pips removed) or a piece of melon skin which they absolutely adore. Oh I forgot to mention blueberries too which they love. Mine will do anything for a blueberry! They don't get these often either!

Can they eat watermelon skin? Assuming you were talking about watermelon?
