Wonder if anyone could help, when I picked my piggies up from the rescue yesterday, the lady there told me to give a small piece of carrot, broccoli or cauliflower in the morning and same teatime, not to give any other fruit or veg, since reading through here you all seem to feed a large variety, just wondering how much F+v you feed daily,I bought them carrots Kale and broccoli yesterday I bought the carrots with the long feathery stems attached do I feed the green off the carrot as well as the carrot,I want to get this right so need all the advice I can get :)

yep.....that long green leaf bit is the best, my pigs love it when they get the carrots with the green stems.

not sure why the lady told you what she did but my pigs have loads of different veges and fruit. you have to watch the amounts you feed of certain ones, e.g apples as they can cause sores on the lips cause of the acid content.

mine eat most stuff but cucumber is a must for them, they just love it and fluffy likes strawberries, baby likes sweetcorn, tyke apples and gizmo carrots and the rest of my herd just eat what ever they can ;D including my fingers :(

just read the shopping list and you'll find out what your babies like the best.

just remember not ice berg lettuce but little gems etc ,my guineas do tend to like a nice leaf of lettuce.

try to include veg daily that has vit c in it.

good luck

Thankyou very much, shall go and have a look at the shopping list, sorry to be a pain, but how much should they have daily, the lay at the rescue told me not to give them a lot as they will leave their guinea pig food, sorry to sound stupid but this is all new to me :)

they all have their favourite foods,
All mine LOVE romaine lettuce and Spinach the best, Toffee loves tomatoes, but not to be given often, maisy loves oranges which you also don't give often, , star loves apples, they all hate mange tout, parsnip, and swede.

A rescue to say that? Hmm odd.

Some people feed their piggies twice a day. Mine get fresh fruit and veg in the evening

mine get a bowl of fresh food at night, in the day they have their hay and dry food which should be available at all times. you will get to know your piggies and how much they need.

i have to say, not that i should have a favourite but baby(who really isn't a baby ;D) but who i adore has treats on the sly through out the day ;) have to sneak them in, in case the others spot me and start wheeking.....................

I have a book by Peter Gurney A Collins Family Pet Guide just called Guinea Pig . Well worth buying, good advice on feeding and other apects of piggy care. Cost £7.99 I got mine from Pets at Home
