So I know fruit must only be given as a treat as it contains a lot of sugar.

But how much is too much?

How much do you feed your piggies?

Would a grape a week be too much?

Feed fruit (including tomato) no more than twice a week. A grape or a cherry tomato (cut in half for easier access) once or twice in a week is perfectly fine.

The problem with fruit is not only the sugar but also the acid it contains. Too much fruit or a little fruit on a daily or near daily basis can cause lip and mouth sores and then a fungal or bacterial infection, called cheilitis. Some piggies are more sensitive than others.

I don't think one or two grapes per week would be too much. My piggies regularly get fruit but very small amounts, cut into small pieces.
Plus veg and greens, also in small amounts. So they get a variety of different food stuff.
Baby or cherry tomatoes are cut into six slices, one slice per pig. I buy the smallest tomatoes I can find.

The problem is they LOVE IT sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. I hate seeing their little "is it grape time?" eyes :-(

But I shall stand firm.

My lot love grapes too

I love it when they eat it so quickly their little chins are all wet with juice.

I'm going to cut a grape in half and let them have a half each a few days a week so that it's no more than two a week each.

Please be aware that a very little too often can also cause cheilitis in some sensitive piggies. It happened to a friend of mine .

I give my boys grapes very occasionally, also bits of apple and - their favorite! - watermelon. As others have noted, keep an eye on the pigs' mouths in case they're sensitive to the acid in the apples and grapes.
