I'm trying to limit down the calcium content in my guineas diets. I recently found on kale was very high in calcium which will depress my piggies as that's their favourite! I was wondering what else is high in calcium and how oftentimes would it be ok to give them those certain foods.
Also can anyone living in the UK reccomend a good pellet brand low in calcium? At the moment I'm giving them the pets at home one.

It's the petsathome one high in calcium? That is what I use
I don't think its high in calcium or has an amount which is something to be worried about, I'm just trying to find one particularlly low in calcium as my piggie has a bladder prone to stones.

I don't think the p@h brand is any worse than other pellets on the market.

@helen105281 is the best person to discuss pellets with

Pets at Home have 0.8% calcium which is on a par with the other UK branded pellets really. It is also likely to be from calcium carbonate which is not ideal and is full of lots of fillers too. I feed a low calcium diet veg wise (similar the one in our recommended daily veg) and feed either JR Farm, Vitakraft emotion or Bunny pellets, all from Zooplus and all of which are grainless and have more natural ingredients. Everyone's opinion differs on this though.

Arugula, basil, cucumbers, parsley, plums (remember high in sugar though so not too much), there are tons of different options that I've learnt but another thing is too consider is moderation to make sure even ones that have trace amounts of calcium don't boost up their levels by being fed too much of them.

If you only give them kale like once a week I'm sure its not going to hurt them. Yes its high in calcium, but if its there favorite then just use it as a treat once a week or something. Its like, I know cheese is not necessarily the best thing for my cats, but I give them a tiny bit now and again, and its never hurt them.
