Frustrated!

Before I post this...please know that this is NOT directed at anyone in particular, its not for me to tell people how to look after their pigs..

BUT

If you come on to the forum with a sick or injured piggy looking for help, and one of the very experienced/knowledgeable piggie people on here advise you to take your piggie to a vet....PLEASE TAKE IT TO A VET! :{

They are only trying to help you and your piggie, and avoid a potentially sad ending.

Ultimately, its up to the owner to do whats right for the animal but we all really do care about each and every piggy and bunny and any other animal on here...

I agree, if you are so worried about your piggy, always trust your instincts, you know if they aren't "normal" then take no chances, please see a vet!

I lost my piggy even though I took her for medical attention just an hour after I spotted she wasn't "herself", so every minute counts & may be the difference between losing a piggy or not .....

I know, I get so frustrated with some of the posts on here sometimes.

Rodneys changes were sooo subtle yet he was really poorly...some of the piggies on here have very obvious signs of illness and should be taken straight to a vet.

I agree with you. I'm glad I took Luigi to the vet when he got that bite wound, it could have been nasty or even fatal if I hadn't. I took him twice as it got infected. The way I see it is you would take your child to the Docs if he/she is poorly so you should do the same for your pet. Just because its small and can't talk doesn't mean you can ignore it and it will go away

I agree - I had someone call me at work on Sunday evening, couldn't afford the out of hours consultation fee, so I even put my neck on the line and offered to get the vet to see piggy for a reduced price and piggy still didn't get brought in - I think it may well be too late for piggy now by the way the owner described the symptoms

I have a parrot and she goes to the vet too if she's ill! It's cruel to let any animal suffer If you can't afford to take it to a vet (and there's the PDSA which will treat your animal for FREE if you get housing benefit!) then take it somewhere where it can be looked after. There's plenty of animal shelters and rescue's about. I have 4 kids and still manage to make sure my pets are well looked after! Don't get a pet if you can't afford the medical cover. Simples

I feel the same way. I often get upset reading posts here when people ask about piggies who sound like they should be rushed to a vets right away.

Also if you're a new piggie mum/dad it's very confusing cause you're not sure what is right or wrong ....... unless it is the absolutely obvious signs of illness like you're saying
