fudge isnt as upset about hersheys passing away now and is almost back to his old self however, he is all by himself which shouldnt be a problem as next week I'm taking in 5 guinea pigs 3 adults and 2 babies around his age he is getting a new cage all together because i want more space for him. how do i know when hes ready to start bonding with another piggie? there are girls and boys in the group I'm getting (of course the girls will be living away from the boys) but should i pair him up with girls or a boy? I'm asking because one of the females cannot have babies so they could live together or i can put him with other boys? i will have 2x6 for every couple and trio would that be enough? sorry ive been trying to figure out my arrangements and I'm worried about the introductions any advice and tips would be deeply appreciated at this point.

It's great that you are thinking of getting Fudge a friend. Depending upon where you are getting the other pigs from you will most likely nees to do a quarantine period of at least 2 weeks- completely separate from Fudge so that he doesn't get any illnesses/parasites they may be carrying.
Have the males and females been living together previously and how old are the babies? I only ask because male guinea pigs can impregnate their mothers and sisters from three weeks old, I certainly wouldn't put Fudge in with a female without him being neutered even if the other female 'can't' get pregnant- piggies are fertile through life so you wouldn't want an older pregnant piggy.

How many boys and girls are there?
Hope that helps. x

the two babies are 3 weeks at the moment so no worries there i know that you have to seperate males and females before they are 5 weeks cause the females will get pregnant. there are 3 adults 1 male 1 female and i dont know about the other cause they arent sure. the males and female are living together and have since she was a baby and shes 3 now and hasnt had any babies i dont know why but they told me she cant have them. i am going to double check all of them to be sure of their sex when i get them and i have enough sheets of coroplast for everyone to have their own cage just in case of noone getting along, for before introductions, and in case of fallouts. and fudge is 6 weeks
