fudge is sneezing an coughing

looks like I'm going the vets again today with fudge now he seems to have a cold
he is my daughters piggie so i hope he will be ok
this week i need my own seat at the vets I'm so fed up my piggies are really worrying me this week 8...
 
Daisy is sneezing as well, at least that's what it sounds like. She hops off the floor as she does it. No other signs of illness though does it sound like sneezing from what I've described?

What did the vet recommend to you?
 
What is he bedded on? Sawdust isn't generally recommended as it can cause health problems, respiratory problems being one of them so if they're bedded on that it may be beneficial to change. Sometimes if hay is too dusty this can also cause problems so buying good quality hay and shaking off any excess dust can help.

Then it can also be a URI ( Upper Respiratory Infection ) in which case he will need a course of antibiotics such as baytril. If he is prescribed baytril you must also give a probiotic as baytril can cause upset stomachs.
 
Daisy has lots of newspaper on the floor and hay to eat with just sawdust in the litter tray. I am not sure if it waas her or not because it sounded loud but she may have a cough to now :...

I am waiting until tomorrow before I panic. They are indoor piggies at the moment because my OH is refurbishing their hutch but they were meant to be going outside again this weekend.rolleyes

I will be interested to hear what the vet said about Fudge.
 
hi fudge has *.r.i and has been given baytril it is early stages so he should be fine ive also got probiotic for him he was so good bless him
and now to top my week off my daughter georgia is not well had to take her to a an e with tummy pains shes ok though but i hate this week i cant wait for it to be over

Big hugs for you all. At least you know now what is wrong with Fudge and he will get better soon. I hope Georgia is soon better, my son has similar pains on and off which they put down to his appendics.

i was told today that if it was on and off it would not be her appendics i was thinking it might off been that but they seem to think that because she has had a cold its upset her tummy but I'm not convinced to be honest, oh and my husband has had a minor operation on his nose too this week so i definatly think next week has to be better !
