Fun fact

I don't own piggies anymore, but a fun fact from when I did would be the special bond I had with my RB boy Odin (in my pic). Of all the boars I owned, he had an extra special place in my heart. He would climb out of their cage onto my hand and would spend hours asleep on my knee or shoulder (most of the time flopped onto his side snoozing away). He would follow me around all day if he could. He definitely preferred his hooman mum to other piggies.

Thea has developed "the stare" when she wants food. I go into the garage at various times during the day and if she is up by the door of the hutch with "the stare" I know she wants something to eat. Usually I get "the stare" when it's pea flake time. Then she has to wait while the others get pea flakes. It doesn't stop her from giving me "the stare" as she's awaiting her forage. When it's forage time she does old lady popcorns which are her front feet leaving the fleece on the hutch floor by a cm or so. Sometimes she has her supper of pea flakes in bed if she can't be bothered to climb out of the hay tray. She's such a diva in her dotage. She was 7 in January.

Mischievous Master Boris loves chin rubs. He pootles over and puts his head back as a clear invitation. He enjoys it so much that it seems to hypnotise him, his eyes glaze over and his mouth drops open...... sometimes he drools a little bit.
We take the opportunity to check his teeth when he's frozen like that. We have to give him a little boop on the nose to bring him back in the room. Recently he didn't react to the nose boops for so long we started to panic that he'd had a stroke!IMG_20231124_191315.webp

I no longer have piggies but Micah had a couple of addictions.
He was a banana addict - he practically inhaled mashed banana when it was offered.
His other addiction was eye licking - anytime he could he would lick the eyes of his sows with great enthusiasm.
I ended up having to give Ruth occasional eye drops to help !
