It seems I'm a glutton for punishment after Little Wilma damaged her eye on Sunday, the boy's (Toby and Max) are having there neutering operation tomorrow. I'm a little bit anxious this is 2nd time lucky as they developed ringworm just before there last appointment.

Little Wilma was also at the vets first thing yesterday, as she managed to get some hay in her eye. Her eye is quite bloodshot but appears to be healing well. She most certainly is not a fan of the drops. She's such a dear little lady, this is her 7th gotcha year and she was a fully grown adult pig at the time so a good age and very precious.

Lots of nursing over the next couple of days!

Can't believe Toby was hanging out the cage for his vegetables?! Apparently he's got a very high pain Threshold.

Max isn't 100%, although he still managed to escape and run under the coffee table apparently he wasn't very subdued. He is eating when I temp him so given the circumstances I'm happy with him so far :).

Here's a little video from this morning, there neutering operation was yesterday around 11am.

The boys really are doing exception, neither one has needed any supportive care. They are doing so good I was questioning if not the pain killers was necessary.

Excuse my high pitched voice!

Only 5 weeks and 6 days until introductions.

Can't believe how nervous I was about it, I've never had any guinea pigs bounce back so quickly after surgery such a relief!

Really pleased your boys have recovered so well after the neuters! What a relief and nearly a next chapter starting for them :)
I am also jealous though as I am still struggling with one of my piggies 3 weeks post op (not a neuter) - much better when they bounce back without the need for much meds. Keep bouncing boys!

Sorry @lauraboara that your little one is still not well. What operation did he have?

I think the difference with the boys is they where healthy before hand. I know from experience when they are ill it can take longer for them to bounce back. Although even I thought I'd have to do some syringe feeding!

Only just caught this thread. Glad the 'op' went well and both lads are recovering.. Sending lots of vibes to Wilma x x

Me too, I took a week off work to just in case had a great day of doing nothing. It was needed after yesterday.

Thanks, little Wilma is back at the vets next Saturday although the back ulcer looks to be healing well she has one also on the front which hasn't healed yet. Despite her blindness she's still able to blink just before the drop hits her eye, quite a talent:)). It does look a lot better already so I am hopeful drops will sort it out. In the meantime she appears unaffected which is the main thing.

A good idea.

Ha ha, how does she do that! Piggy senses..... Fingers crossed on that ulcer healing up speedily. How old is Wilma now?

I've had her 7 years this year, when I adopted her she was an adult 18 months I was told so definetly an old lady. She's so tiny and fragile, a little sweetheart!

Fred is 7 years this year to although he looks a bit younger.

Awwwwww Wonderful golden oldies, we need a pigture thread on them Jo x

Aw bless them, glad they're up and about and eager for food as ever :) Lovely video of them.
Glad Wilma is getting on well with her eye, even though she's not appreciating the treatment. At least it's all going in the right direction

The boys are still doing well Max is still a little bit behind in his recovery. I'm still happy with him as he is eating but he has lost 100 grams in weight. I do think this probably because he took longer than Toby to start eating. I still have him on gut stimulants and am offering lots of nice treats. I'm going to offer him some critical care. He was however hanging our the cage for vegetables so definetly just a little bit longer to return to normal.

I'm keeping both of them on pain killers although I have Stopped Toby's Emeprid. Toby is acting like nothings has even happened. Even when I picked them up they mentioned about how quickly Toby started eating and now he's wondering about mooching just like normal. It's amazing how two pig's can act so differently.

I had a busy day was out all day felt terrible came back to discover Max's hay tube full of hay like he hadn't touched it and then I remembered he had two hay tubes?!

One stashed behind his house, empty.. piggy conspiracy, little devil! :))

As per veggie begging began... Nothing to worry about.

Good news, Wilma had her eye checked for the final time. No more eye drops, and no more treatment required.

The boys had there post operative check, We are now 11 days on from the operation and Toby is looking good. Max has had a small complication his stitch hasn't healed together as it should due to a little bit of skin inflammation so he is currently on antibiotics.

Thankfully Max is tolerating his medicine well and the inflammation appears to be reducing already. His wound looks a lot better since starting antibiotics.

Glad your boys are mending and hope ABs do trick for Max - then you can move onto the next more exciting bit in a few weeks!
