This is one of my little girls Totoro. On Monday I noticed a patch of fur thinning with white dry skin underneath. I was told that she had a fungal infection/ringworm and given a spray to put on it twice daily, which I have been doing since Monday. This morning (Thursday) I noticed a scab had developed and by 3pm the scab was gone along with the thinning hair and she now looks like this. :( Is this healing or getting worse?

Looks quite bad to me...have you been using any creams or shampoos?

Mine has recently recovered from ringworm and I've been using canesten (1%) and various shampoos for about a month until it has finally disappeared. I would recommend going to a chemist tomorrow and getting some canesten cream, just be careful not to get it too close to her eyes. You can get various shampoos to help with fungal infections, but I wouldn't know which to recommend to you as it's on her face, I don't want to say something that could irritate her eyes.

Hopefully some one else can give you some more advise in the morning. Good luck.

P.S Have a read of this too http://www.guinealynx.info/fungus.html

Hope this helps :)

It is perfectly normal in young piggies for ringworm to start as a white powdery crusty lesion and once piggie scratches for the young skin to slough off leaving an oozing sore/scab...this can happen rapidly so often you don;t see the white cursty stuff form and the first indication you get is a bald oozing patch normally on the nose/face. Normally the wound will scab over and, provided the infection is being treated, the skin will heal normally and fur start to grow back.

However your piggie has already been given medication so please provide further details of what it was before I make any further comment.
