Hello, I'm going to try and post some pictures here - I'm not very good at things like this so please be patient.....

First one is Scully's nose the day after we got her home, and notice the crusty stuff around her eye.....

This is her ear, it looked like white scabs.....

This is Rascal with Scully sat on my little boy's knee the first day we brought them home.....

This was Scully yesterday with her cream all over her ears and nose - which does make it look slightly worse - how sore is that!......

Been back to vet today, have been told to carry on with Surolan as her ears are clear now, although her nose looks a lot worse. Then just had her out tonight and she has another patch under her back leg! Oh no! Rascal also has a slight scab on her nose. Got some forumula H disinfectant, gloves, newspapers and extra bedding - although vet suggested not using sawdust and hay bedding till it's clear so cutting up old blankets. Anyway hope this works, and thanks for all advice so far. Oops sorry top picture is upside down!

As this infection is progressing it may be worth you discussing with your vet the use of Imaverol instead - it is one of the most effective ringworm treatments available and has saved many pigs from suffering when other treatments have failed.

The treatment regime is detailed in Esjay's thread - http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=89509

Thanks for your suggestion, I have to go back to vets at the end of the week so if her nose isn't any better I will suggest this. It seems to of worked really well on her ears and eyes.

Might be worth asking for some painkillers in case she is itching it and making it worse.

My piggy Bingo had a very similar case of fungal round his eye and it got to the point where he was struggling to open it. We used Daktarin cream and a course of Baytril as well as probiotics. Thankfully it cleared up and we have been fungal free for a little over a month now.

Keep an eye out for signs of fungal on yourself. My Mum caught ringworm from Bingo which was very uncomfortable.

Take care and I hope you piggy feels better soon.

The vet said the Suralon should ease any itching, and inflamation. Will give it another few days and if her nose doesn't clear up will be back at vets. Mmm I think I have ringworm, got an itchy patch on the inside of my elbow!

Sorry for butting in but I'd like to say that Imaverol is working for me...thanks to Suzygpr.....I've followed the instructions to the letter and my girls now have hair growing on their bald bits :)

Things seem to be clearing up, fingers crossed, but will ask vet about Imaverol when I am there on Monday. Thanks to both of you.
