Hi,

Reading others' posts, it seems likely that at some point our pets will get a fungal infection. What's the typical cause and what can we do to minimize the chances of getting one?

i am no expert but there is a proper link on here for this topic.. x

I'm hoping sb will post the link ;)

There is a Ringworm guide on here:

Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

However, there are many different types of fungal in addition to Ringworm. It is hard to say the exact cause but it can strike when a pig is run down, or in humid conditions and can even be linked to an overload of grain in their diet which can cause issues with Candida. Sometimes it is a combination of factors. Most fungal conditions are easily treated as long as it is caught early enough and the correct hygiene guidelines are followed. I have had fungal (not Ringworm) in every single one of my pigs and they are still here. I swear by Imaverol dips for treating it, together with an antifungal shampoo, but sometimes oral medication is needed in the form of Itrafungol or Nystatin.

I beleve fungous spours thrive in a damp enviroment , so l would say keep the envitoment
As dry as possibal .
Having a good air flow helps a lot with this
