Hi I took Barlow to the vets on Wednesday and was given stuff to put on her and if needed repeat again 7 days later. My question is, is the fungal infection something that will get worse before it gets better. As the fur coming out etc is spreading a Little more each day. Not sure what to do, any advice would be welcome. Below is a picture I took today.

Many Thanks xx112418

Hi

Please take the time to read our ringworm guide and look at the pictures in the second part which chart the various stages.
Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

Once you have an acute outbreak, it has to run its due course. All hairs in the affected area have to come out before it can heal; this area is much larger than initially visible.

Please follow the advice in your guide.

What is the name of the medication you were given to put on the patch?

But fungal does tend to get worse before it gets better.

We were given imaverol to dilute and put on affected area.

Have you given your piggy an all body wash to prevent spores from infecting other areas of the body?
On the spot treatment is not very effective because it usually does't reach the whole affected area and it doesn't address the thousands of spores that are being shed and that can hang in the coat for quite some time before they touch skin and start a new infection.

No, we weren't advised to bath her from the vet, what would we need to bath her in ? Is there something we can buy to bath her in ?

Many Thanks

The ringworm guide provides details. Imaverol dips can be used as can Malesab baths.

I did read that but assuming we would have to get them from a vet ?

Yes please speak to your vet. To be absolutely honest I would have expected a vet to give you oral treatment given that the fungal is right near the eye and you need to be very careful to get it all but to avoid the eye. Perhaps call and speak to your vet when they are open?

Yes will defo call the vet again, many thanks x

You’re welcome. When one of mine had it next to her eye the vet immediately prescribed oral systemic treatment for this very reason. It’s expensive but works very well.

You can bathe her in malaseb shampoo; it is effective.

PLEASE read our ringworm guide to get on top of it! We have over a decade's experience with dealing with ringworm that has gone into our advice in that guide. It has taken me several days to write it all down and make sure that it is complete, practical and precise.

I simply can't repeat all the advice afresh for everybody on the forum all the time and answer all the often complex problems on such a wide range of topics in just three short sentences. There is very often not an easy quick fix; there certainly isn't for ringworm if you want to get on top of it once and for all! ;)
