Just wanted to share a recent incident which caused me a great deal of upset and may help other rescues think about things.
I love running the rescue it makes me happy and i hope this is reflected in the level of care we offer.
We sorted my friend Kyms piggie out with a boar companion donated as an unwanted baby,he had two week quarantine and no problems then low and behold he developed a fungal infection and then i find out Kym had caught it too.I was completely mortified as our reputation is extremely important to me.
Rescue is a learning curve all the time and i am now much more aware about fungals and the four week incubation period ! and we have little George on a treatment regime.Kym made my day by wanting to rehome from us again and out of the 150 plus we have rehomed this was a first.
I just wanted to share this as it did really upset me and poor little George and Charlie have had a time with all the baths etc,but things are improving.
Moral of the story if in any doubt sit it out and i now consider quarantine over two weeks if i have any doubts on history !!

We've been caught out like this as well. Gave the old girls a bath and a two week quarantine and a skin problem developed a week or so later. Luckily no one else caught it.

Thing is that when you look after as many piggies as you do sooner or later something unexpected can happen. You wanted this little fella to go to a good home ASAP and he seemed fine so sometimes things don't go to plan.

Aww Helen :) you have been fantastic! George is almost all clear now thanks to your help :) and he has had extra special love and attention from me during these few weeks. Which is probably why I now have it haha! but same for me, it will be gone soon :D Even though he absolutely hates the baths I feel that it has been a good chance to bond with him and Charlie too! It took months before Charlie would let me pick him up as a baby but George lets me now and its only been four weeks =O You have been very kind and supportive and I can't wait to meet Jack and Bailey and bring them home! :)
