just broke down in work. I cannot deal with this at the moment. The pressure is too much and my anxiety is through the roof. I cannot sleep or eat. I have a sick partner who is at the monent out of work through no fault of his own. And I have a stressful job.

I am treating my herd of 8 for ringworm they are being weighed tonight for intrafungol meds’ and I’m doing a cage clean.

The room the cage is in is the biggest in the house. Because we extended it to give them as much room as possible. We swooped rooms, as it made more sense to put storage and the piggies in the biggest room. The room is unfinished with breeze blocked walls and a cement floor, but I also dry clothes and have a rail of clothes hanging up in there. I cannot put them anywhere else in the house as I don’t have room (that room was our bedroom until we moved the rooms around). I do not have a clothes line or a tumble drier. My bungalow is tiny. I can mop the floor with F10 and spray F10 on the clothes but I don’t want the risk of carrying spores. What can I do?

I am deep cleaning the room tonight. All of the piggy storage boxes will be washed. The floor will be mopped and the walls sprayed with F10. All appliances in the room will also be washed with F10. But what about the drying clothes and the clothes rail?

I am even thinking of getting a loan to purchase an insulated shed and putting the piggies in that. I cannot believe that I am going through this again. Treating the pigs isn’t a problem... it’s the threat of the fungal coming back again that’s making me ill.

What can I do?

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm sorry that I have no advice to give but I didn't want to read and run. Sending you a huge hug

Sending you hugs  I have recently had a Piggie diagnosed with ringworm. It took a few weeks to clear up with oral intrafungol. I remember feeling very frustrated the 1st few days as I didn't see much improvement.

I assume you've seen Wiebke's thread.....

If possible, dry your clothes in a room that the piggies are not in. Once they are washed, they will be safe. Give the rail a disinfectant wipe before you move it well away from the piggies (ideally into another room).

Give the room another deep clean once the fungal has stopped and no more spores are shed. That should minimise the risk of ringworm coming back.

Dealing with ringworm in a larger herd is very stressful, as I know from my own experience with 16 piggies plus. The good news is that you have now got itrafungol, which is making the treatment of fungal a lot easier - mine had the ringworm before that when it meant a dip every three days... with all those towels to be washed at high temperatures in addition to the bedding...

What I did was to replace the fleeces afterwards. I am still keeping my ringworm fleeces for the hospital cage in the attic in case I get ringworm carried in again; they have been of course washed at 90 C.

You may find it helpful to quarantine your acutely fungal piggies in a separate area, so you have to do the whole cage for the herd only once after the ringworm piggies have been removed and while the non-affected piggies get a fungal bath to prevent them from developing ringworm and to wash any spores out of their coat. After that, they should be safe. This limits the effort you need to make.
Keep in mind that the vast majority of the spores will end up in the immediate surroundings of the piggies, so you can get well away with concentrating on the area of the hospital cage/pen. If necessary, peg some cardboard on the sides of the pen to prevent any spores from spreading past that cage while your two affected piggies are still going through the acute stage. In my experience, you should get on top of the acute stage within a week with itrafungol. After that, it is a bath for the affected piggies and an observation/quarantine period for another two weeks to make sure that they are ringworm-free.

I am really sorry matey, what a nightmare, last thing you need on top of everything else. Itrafungal should really get it under control quickly. Were they treated with itrafungal before, it may be that the last fungal infection wasn't quite stopped fully. Hopefully after this your herd will be fungal free. Have a hug x x

Pigs are in a deep cleaned cage with fresh liners. The room has had a deep clean and I have sprayed F10 everywhere...the walls, floor and in to the corners.

Piggies have had their Intrafungol (half of them don't like it so I have a fight on my hands) and the two piggies showing infection have F10 ointment rubbed on to provide some relief.

I have F10 anti fungal shampoo and all pigs will be having a bath on Saturday. Then every week after for 4 weeks.

By the time I have finished with them and the room no self respecting germ will come within 500 yards. And the piggies will hate me for a bit.

I cannot remove drying clothes in the room due to having no where else to put them. But I am spraying F10 on to them twice a day as they dry. Plus everything will be washed at 60 degrees.

I'm knackered. And I have a 12 hour shift tomorrow!

I'm so sorry your going through this, anxiety is an awful thing,I was on dizapam, 4 times a day for about 2 yrs. I don't take them now & have managed my condition, although I still get flare ups.
First thing you should do is ditch work for a week & start healing. Baths with relaxing lotion in it. Take the time out for a cuppa, try these flavoured teas, Tim & Lee swear by them. Read a book, listen to music, take a wander down the shops. If you don't look after yourself, your not going to cope.
Hope some of this works for you.
Hugs coming your way.
