I'm so glad I decided to try the Canesten on little Millie because it's worked a treat. :) I know some people here suggested she may be too young but we had advice from someone (not a member) who has used Canesten on a piggy as young as Millie and its fine.

I put it on twice a day everyday and now there's lovely pink skin with new hair growing. The hibiscrub the vet gave us wasn't enough to get rid of it, why dont vets ever recommend Canesten?

That's really great - I've not used anything unless instructed by our vet but have a first aid box stuffed full of things that I probably would use in an emergency situation.
Reading success rates like this gives me faith and probably vets are wary to precribe stuff because of lack of research/licensing...not sure ?/
Good news though for your little one :)p

Some vets do recommend canesten, but it's done on a case by case basis. What works for one is not guaranteed to work on another. It depends on the type of fungus, and it's often a trial and error thing unless you send samples away for testing. Age, health and other factors are also considered when deciding upon a treatment. They also cannot say "try X Y and Z" without seeing the animal.

I'm sure if we had taken Millie back to the vets she would be reluctant still to prescribe anything because of her age.

We would have probably ended up going back and forth back and forth constantly paying out. I think taking the chance with Canesten is worth it and I will always have a tube in the house....just in case.
