This could be a long post....
So last night I noticed Dillon making a bubbly/"ruttling" noise when eating. I recognised the noise because I have lost a guinea to pneumonia before and he used to make that noise when eating. Dillons eyes had only the smallest bit of crust on them this morning and his nose was dry. I listened to him eating this morning and he made the same noise but not as loudly (I heard it very slightly a few weeks ago but that it was just him chatting away). I thought his breathing looked slightly laboured, his respiratory rate was definetely slower at times. After Dillon had finished eating I had him up for a cuddle and he had a few coughs/sneezes. I am pretty sure he brought something up but he just ate what ever it was rolleyes
So I went to the vets today and they had a listen. His chest is clear but said it sounds like it is in his throat? They said it may be because I have caught it early.
So he is on Baytril, Metacam and Bisolvon. Just to be safe. I am to call back in a week to let them know how he is. Fingers crossed I am just being paranoid and he is fine.
But I have another dilemma....
I have just had to move back home (a week ago) after 6 years because I have split up with my boyfriend. My mum has two house rabbits so the guinea pigs are free range in the utility room. However, when we are watching the guinea pigs get to roam the garden and the kitchen where the rabbits are and they occasionally have some veggies together.
I know rabbits and pigs should not be together because of bullying/injury/bordetela. However my mum had looked after the pigs when I was on holiday and things had been fine. I have now shut the pigs in the utility room so that they can't mix with the rabbits just incase it is bordetela, as obviously it is my fault if it is!
I am wondering where else I could keep them so they are further away from the rabbits or do you think a door between them is fine?
Eeeek help....my head is a mess after this breakup and I can't think straight about what the best thing is to do :{
Thanks x
