So some of you may know, i ordered the cage the other day from zooplus, ready for when dot lives with burnie. I have received 4 whole cage setups and have only been charged for 1 :yahoo:. The picture here is what made me go what the hell 4 bases? Then i realisedView attachment 96182

Lucky you! Nice of them to send you 4 cages. Maybe they got your order mixed up with someone who had ordered 4!

Any ideas on how to make the base red? Fussy mrs doesnt want blue in the living room arghhh.

Only thing I could think of would be to use an animal safe spray paint / paint and allow it to air for a few days before placing the piggies in it

You should be letting zooplus know about the error. These goods do not belong to you, they belong to zooplus and are therefore not yours to sell. I have copied a bit from a BBC article here which applies to your rights:
"Items that firms send to you, but you didn't actually order are called "unsolicited goods". You're well within your rights to keep them.

You have no obligation to send them back to the company or to pay for them. If a company demands payment, that's a criminal offence.

But this doesn't apply to items sent to you by mistake (as happened to Robert); if the order was sent to you twice; or if there's extra stuff on top of what you ordered.

If a firm has left goods with you that weren't unsolicited goods, they still belong to the trader and you should try to give them back.

Firms can take you to court to recover their goods"

It wouldnt be worth the court cost to take me to court. So I'm not worried, but i did feel a bit bad about it. So il see what i can do. I'm guessing a petshop placed an order and it got mixed up. I'm waiting to see if the money comes out or not first. Can you delete this thread. I dont want it giving this forum a bad name.

@Lady Kelly has given you the correct legal position.
The additional goods are not yours and legally you cannot treat them as if you are the owner. You have a duty to inform them of their error and assist in their return to the owner.

For future reference, section 1 of the theft act 1986. A person is guilty of theft if they dishonestly appropriate property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it, "thief" and "steal" shall be construed accordingly. And that is from memory, learned during my police training in 1986. ;)

Ok thats three moderators showing their knowledge of laws. I am dealing with this situation as of tomorrow . Thankyou very much for this information. Now can one of you please delete this thread? Incase it gets seen, which i doubt but I'm going to do the right thing. It was lucky i checked the parcel in the first place. I wasnt going to until a few weeks as its not at my house

Ok mate have seen this more or less already above. I am dealing with it tomorrow. Thankyou. I just dont want it to get seen because obviously it looks like I'm thiefing them because i wasnt aware of this law before. I was getting confused with items that are sent by mistake without me ordering

Little update, i called zooplus 3 times and told them aboutthem delivering too many cages, no one has turned up. Its been ages now. ? 🤔

I'm sorry but since my late grandad left his expensive gold watch in a public toilet and some scumbag nicked it and my late grandma who was in her late 80's at the time left her purse full of her pension money on a table in Morrison's cafe and some nobody handed it in, I'm done with honesty *Rant over*

I understand experiences like this can affect your faith in human nature . I have been the victim of fraud so am aware there are some horrible people around. However, this doesn't mean we should sink to the same level as these people .
We have to lead by example and honesty is the best policy .

Yea i know what you mean. Thats terrible. My wife almost got pick pocketed in ketterin but caught the girl at it. I found a contactless bank card the other day at work and handed it in to the worker at subway, but you never know what she did with it.

In the cage case i have tried to be honest when i realised i had no right to keep them. But I'm now stuck with 3 cages lol

It’s a complex legal situation - called bailment. You have to look after them for the owner until either they assign them to you or make arrangements for their collection or return.

How did you contact them & what did they say? I’d make sure I got communications in writing.

Il put them in the attic and wait a little longer , my dad called actually, i dont know. They are at his house ( delivery address) i said i called just being lazy. My parents are both retired so i always know they are in for deliveries. I believe bailment goes on for 6 years, then they are mine.

If the original contract was with you, then irrespective of the delivery address it is your duty to contact them and to sort the situation out. Email would be the most straightforward way for you to document the situation and sort it out. In your shoes I would ask them either to collect within a reasonable period (eg 14 days) or ask them to sign them over to you (ask them to confirm you may keep them free of charge).
