hi there
I've noticed now that when i put my two girls out on their fleece blanket for a run , my ginger one pees and its clear but with a white spot in the middle?
what does this mean?
i have seen it like that since i have had her so thought it may be normal but having read lots of things on here about uti's ?
i have no idea?
the black piggies wee is just yellow with no spot so i don't know?
is it a trip to the vets or is it normal?
i have had them about 7 months now & it's my first time owning piggies & i have learned a lot since joining the forum

If the spot is powdery, then it is just excess calcium being excreted by the body. That is a normal process and nothing to worry about.

If the white spot is gritty, then I would contact the vet re. potential bladder sludge/stone. http://www.guinealynx.info/stones.html

It is good that you are on the lookout, so you can act fast if something is the case.

how come she gets it & the other one doesn't?
they are not related though
it looks powdery and not gritty so it is normal then?
she seems happy enough popcorning & eating & drinking so should i be worried?
 
I'm always watching them when they are out & checking them all the time in the cage! it's worse than having a baby!
they are funny though & are great pets :(|)
 
Yes, it is normal.

Each body is different, so different amounts get excreted at different times. You may find simultaneous calcium patches if you feed foods high in calcium like spinach or kale (which should be only fed occasionally for that reason).
 
i feed them green beans , broccolli & spring greens?
they have cucumber, the occasional grape & some alfafa cubes , plenty of hay & nuggets , they have some carrots, watercress occasionally
they have baby corns & treat sticks
they have sprouts too
so its just how they are then?

That is just how they are, yes. Over time, you will know better what is normal and what is not; it is a learning process.

If I were you, I'd drop the alfalfa hay; it is a legume (not a hay) that is very high in calcium and protein and should only be fed to pregnant and nursing guinea pigs. You may also want to gradually reduce the pellets in the amount the weekly rate of weight gain is slowing down to the half to handful that a mature piggy needs when it stops growing 12-15 months old. Weigh your pigies weekly throughout their lives to spot illness/health problems early on.
 
i have noticed tonight that there are several patches from her but they get more sparce as they go along
her pea is like a yellow colour?
the other guinea's wee is the same colour but with no white spots
so no alfafa cubes then?
just some nuggets & hay & veggies
how much nuggets should i give them?
if she had an uti or a stone would she be as active as she is? she's always running around the run like a maniac , they are indoor piggies :))
