Furbabies' Adventures

My piggies :yikes:
Yesterday evening I was out eating with a friend and came home late. When I opened the cage for a quick free roaming, Pino didn't want to come out. Very unusual.
When I gave out evening treats Pino wasn't interested. Even more unusual.
Shift into panic modus ... could be the start of a relapse.
Got him out and noticed a hard thing in his boy parts. So cleared out his perineal sac in the middle of the night :vom:
But he started eating again immediately afterwards.
So relieved 😅

This morning when giving Vicky her meds, I found a thing between her second and third toe on one of her hind legs.
It wasn't there yesterday :yikes:
Could be a tick but I didn't get it out on my own. So I'm at the vet's at the moment waiting for a professional opinion on this thing and the removal of the tick if it is one.

I’m so glad Pino is ok
I do that regularly with Geoff

I never manage to get ticks out of myself never mind out of a guinea. Tho luckily none of my guineas ever had ticks!
Crossing my fingers for you and your guineas that the health problems heal and stay away for a while!

I'm an expert at getting ticks out of myself because we have got loads of them in our garden. 😞
And I'm a magnet for ticks and mosquitoes.

But I've only once had a tick on a piggy before. And luckily they are not susceptible to the common diseases ticks carry. (At least according to the specialist vet when Nui had her tick.)

My Vet told me that in the UK ticks have to be sent off for testing re diseases carried

My lovely Lab and I were walking to our Vet surgery a few years ago and he picked up a tick on the way ….good timing !
Luckily he was fine and the Vet removed it.

Glad the tick was removed asap! My husband and I are just back from a countryside stroll and found three of them on his legs. We have far too many deer here in Scotland so it’s an increasing problem. Hope you don’t have anymore vet trips for a while.

What a fun filled weekend for you with Pino’s boy bits and a tick.
Glad it was quickly removed.
How is Vicky’s eye after a few days of drops ?
